The Button Club.

Sliverphish20070786 Remember this? Well, I don’t have to wait as long as I thought I might have to to tell you about it. Some friends and I have started a project we call The Button Club. We are working our way through How to Sew a Button and Other Nifty Things Your Grandmother Knew by Erin Bried. We are going to learn things about food, decorating, entertaining, and relationships. My first post went up yesterday, but please be sure to check out the blog as we continue introducing ourselves. Our first task is May 1st, and we’ll be learning how to fold a fitted sheet. (Actually, I already know how to fold a fitted sheet. My mom taught me. Wait until I show you the picture of my linen closet that she organized for me. She is a folding master.)

We are sure these tasks will be met with varying degrees of success and we may not really need to know how to do all of them in our everyday lives. But it is better to know how to do something and not need it than to do what I usually do: back away so as not to embarrass myself. This way, if I am embarrassed, at least it’s with a lot of friends. I have known some of these ladies for over a decade (!!!) and am excited to try something new with them. I will keep you posted on our progress. And if you have any advice on sheet folding, canning, packing a suitcase, or something else you learned from your grandmother that you think we should know, share it here or post it in the comments over there. We would love to hear your favorite nifty tips.
