My family doesn't have a problem with alcohol, but it's a no-no in my church. I choose not to drink for many reasons, but it boils down to 1) I have a leadership postition in church, so I have to follow the pastor's teaching and 2) I don't want to take any chance of liking alcohol too much. At least I don't come down on drinkers like some others.

Alcohol was a big no-no in my family. My family was southern baptist, although my dad's dad was an alcoholic, which I think is the main reason he was so down on it.

it wasn't until college that it dawned on me that having a drink wasn't of the devil.

It's so funny that you posted this today. On Saturday I helped my mom host a Baby Shower brunch and my sweet Southern Baptist granny, who does not drink but it amazingly feisty and cute, declared, "Where are the mimosas?!" :)

I thought about this yesterday, too, Adam, when you said on your blog that you walked past your mom and got a beer. I can't really imagine doing that, hehe.
