books read 2013.

First, a bit of business: I had a piece at Art House America about library books that I forgot to tell you about because I have been so busy resting. We have been sticking close to home and reading lots of books and and playing trucks and eating leftovers and just generally lounging. Enforced coziness is where it’s at.

I was hoping to finish one more book yesterday, but it didn’t happen. Got myself a head start on 2014, I guess! Here’s what I did read in 2013, and I have made some notes about favorites at the bottom. They are not totally in order because Goodreads and I don’t think exactly the same about the way that dates work, but they are mostly pretty close after the beginning of the list.

Final Observations:
This was the year I finally started reading ebooks. I signed up for NetGalley and borrowed a Kindle from my school over the summer so I could read them. My aunt bought me an iPad so I switched to reading on that, and I even purchased a couple of ebooks myself. I also rediscovered the joys of the used bookstore. I think I am still a physical book reader but I am allowing myself to change.

I read a lot of YA books this year, both for my job and out of enjoyment. I also read a lot of picture books with Atticus that are not listed. This year I want to do a better job of talking about what we are reading with him.

My goal for the year was 50 books and I blew it out of the water, which was happy-making. I don’t have a goal for 2014 except to read more amazing books! What were your favorites of the year?

  1. I always look forward to, and am amazed by, your list of books you read each year. I usually set my “Goodreads” goal to 50 books, but this year I’m shooting for 100!
