Mike mowed the lawn today. When I was growing up, it was my job to mow the lawn. My parents have 10 acres of land, and I mowed about an acre with the riding mower. I would do it early, before it got too hot, and then I would come in and get cleaned up, and my mom would make us all BLTs.

That sounds like the BLT to end all BLTs, doesn’t it? That passage is what I think of every time I have one.

Yay for Madeleine
I found copies of the second two Crosswicks journals to match the old one I have of “Circle of Quiet” — my grandmother’s, a version no longer in print — in a used bookstore 
I mowed the yard today too.. but I didnt have a blt.. I took the trash to the recycling center.. and then helped my dad and uncle stretch fence.. I would much rather have just mowed.. and had the BLT.. were where you when I needed this advice…
I absolutely love Madeleine L’Engle’s books. That’s a great quote. =) There is certainly nothing like a sloppy BLT on a summer afternoon.
I had to mow the lawn as well. Now that I have a lawn I can mow again, I don’t want to go through the trouble of buying a lawn mower and doing it…at least not yet…maybe I would if someone made me BLTs, that would rock. And is your drink sweet tea to go with the BLT?
I am sure I had sweet tea sometimes, but I really like milk with tomato sandwiches and BLTs.
you talking about the juices and licking it off your fingers also reminded me of that part of “the princess bride” where billy crystal is talking about the “mlt.. mutton lettuce and tomato.. when the mutton is real lean.. mmm..” and he starts licking his fingers.. hehe…
